Dante Ali has just died at age 23 of a heart attack. Good news: he went to heaven and avoided hell. Bad news: heaven is where his dad is. Now that he’s made it to the realm of enlightenment, he must go face his dad, who died when Dante was a young child. Under the guidance of his irreverent “heaven orientation leader” named Devin, Dante explores the funky, twisted parts of his afterlife, from freaky nature kids to “newly dead speed-dating”, all the while toiling with the anxiety of finally meeting his father. This play seeks to ask questions about who our family actually is, when grieving starts and stops, and why we fear the people we love.
